Goals and the National Sewing Month contest

Author: duhbe  //  Category: My Creative Path, Work in Progress

My quilting friend Brenda had a blog post that reminded me about the importance of setting goals.

My goal for 2009 was to submit my stuff to blogs and contests and ultimately to Stampington Press magazines (either Altered Couture or Belle Armoir) and see what happens.  I did not set a goal to get into their magazine, only to submit something since I have total conrol over that portion.

Craftzine blog carried my rose tutorial, and Craft Gossip picked up my catnip fish last week.  I’ll be submitting the embellished collar tutorial today or tomorrow (probably to Craftzine again.)  But it is now mid-September and I have yet to submit to Stampington.  I even have a pink wool business suit planned for the Altered Couture suit challenge, and the deadline is tomorrow so I don’t think that will be happening.

But here is a new contest to share:  September is National Sewing Month and there is a contest centered on upcycled designs.  For all you thrift store junkies – submit your projects by September 30th!!

They only allow one entry per person.  Not sure if I want to submit my skirt to capelet conversion

brown, tan and black with black trim and rose

or my cargo pants to shrug conversion,

cargo sleeve shrug

or maybe the embellished collars I posted the tutorial for today.

Any suggestions?
