Costuming Alice

Author: duhbe  //  Category: Cool Stuff I found, Inspirations

Since I haven’t seen the other crafty sites talking about this, I’ll fill you in.

Costume designer Colleen Atwood talks about the costuming for Alice in Wonderland which comes out this Friday, March 5th.

And here’s another bit of Tim Burton trivia for you.  He has already teamed up to direct the movie version of this book which just came out this week.  Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter sounds pretty interesting.  Even though we’re all sick of vampires (those of us who started with Anne Rice have been through enough, haven’t we?)  This one peaks my interest anyway.

Now if I can just find that book used or handmade, so I don’t have to cheat on my Dottie Angel challenge.

Thanks for posting this video. I sometimes don’t like to see behind the scenes stuff – I just like to pretend it’s all real! :-) But the clothing was interesting to hear about.

Does it seem weird to you that Crispin Glover never actually wore the costume? That they added it in later? Why was that easier than just filming it, I wonder? They must have had to do a ton of manipulation to have the costume move with him.

I”m totally in love with Johnny Depp – Chocolat…swoon! But I’m a little squicked when he does these type of roles when he’s sort of androgynous. Like Pirates or Willie Wonka. Still, I love Tim Burton’s stuff and I’m looking forward to seeing it!

    Hi Luci
Enjoyed the video, the film location was here in Cornwall at Antony Torpoint a National Trust property. Lots going on in the gardens there this year, giant installations, trails and Mad Hatters Tea Party. Great for the Grandchildrens visit at Easter.

Awesome video. I love all of the costumes and it’s great to see them from the designers perspective!

I did find it interesting that Glover’s costume was sewn at the end. I got the idea this was an ooops since she said they weren’t going to make one at all. It was neat to hear the designer talk about her costumes – what a creative seamstress she is!

Carol – your Cornwall gardens sound great. Will you show photos on your blog after your Easter trip?

Brenda – you know I have a library card (melted around the edges.) They just don’t get the new books fast enough for me.
