Many of my blog readers have no clue what a Renaissace Faire is. So let me share a snippet I found on YouTube for the Bristol Renaissance Faire 2009.
Yes, this is the magical wonderland I work at every weekend in July & August. Even though the days are long and I’m on my feet all day working in the mask shop, it’s still a wonderful place to spend a weekend. The performers, the costumes, the humor – all top notch! Where else can you sit at your job while fairies walk by? Or have a strolling minstrel seranade you? Or watch the sheriff sword fight his foe at the pub across the street? The fantasitic sometimes exceeds my own imagination.

I came over here from Craft to see the rose tutorial, and decided to poke around because your comment on sharing ideas as versus hoarding them in hopes of increasing sales seemed very similar to my philosophy on what tutorials I’ve managed to write: knowledge is meant to be shared, and anyway people don’t buy handmade goods because they can’t make them, they buy because they respect the style and flair and skill and creativity with which it was done- and, often in this world of blogs and internet, they buy because they like and respect the crafter (which not being a total ass about ideas helps with). Anyway. All that, and I find you’re a rennie too (I’ve worked at Colorado RF since 2000)! This last bit was too much, and thus obviously DEMANDED a long, rambling comment. So hi! Thanks for the tutorial and for being awesome at first glance.

How fun! I love Ren Faires and try to go to one every summer. They’re always a blast for people watching!
