About

Author: duhbe

My name is Luci and I live in Kenosha, Wisconsin near Lake Michigan with my awesome husband, teenage daughter, as well as a rat terrier, 3 cats,  and one African Grey parrot whose vocabulary exceeds my own on some days.

I used to be an Engineering Project Manager at a big Telecommunications company with a comfy lifestyle.  But I was bored, and I needed a more creative career.  So I left my lucrative career, threw caution to the wind, and now I sew my way through life and sell items through my Etsy shop when I can.   I may be poor, but I am blessed with joy and excitement.  I think the trade was worth it and I have no regrets.

I blog because I love to write, and I love to hear from others who sew and create from their hearts.  I have to confess, sometimes I like the blogging more than the sewing.  I have never lost my love of science, so every now and then I throw in some interesting science news in my blog posts.

Here are a few other pages on my blog to help you get to know me and my style here at the DuhBe blog…

and finally, pictures of things I’ve made

I’m currently into machine embroidery, digitizing my own embroidery designs, free-motion embroidery, small art quilts, computer pattern design, handmade shoes, fabric roses, handmade dolls, mohair teddies, costume design, using recycled fabrics, vintage textiles and hand embroideries, soldered jewelry, website design, photoshop graphic design, and…well, that’s enough for now.  My interests change often, sometimes weekly.  I devour blogs and magazines and books to keep up with new trends and techniques.  My newest fascination started the summer of 2010 – making soap and bath/beauty products.  I’m still learning that stuff and I love the science and art combination of the craft.

I have a love of roses and fairies, thus my website theme.  I’m a fan of science fiction/fantasy and can be caught at local conventions.  In my other spare time I frequent the Bristol Renaissance Faire each summer, and hang out with all my Gypsy bellydancer pals.
